Net Neutrality

Net Neutrality

In recent years we have been hearing a lot about Net Neutrality. But what is it?

Net Neutrality is a term given to describe the principle that Internet service providers should enable access to all content and applications regardless of the source, and without favoring or blocking particular products or websites.

So Does it matter to us?

This is the question which would be in your mind. And the answer is yes! It should matter to us.
Lets say you want to use Facebook and you use Vodafone. But twitter and Vodafone signed a contract which specifies Vodafone to reduce the surfing speed for users when they are using Facebook and increase the speed when using Twitter.

This method can reduce your experience while using Facebook and you would be attracted towards Twitter which in turn would increase the traffic for Twitter increasing their revenue

The situation given above is actually hypothetical but what if it was true? This is the reason why sometimes your are unable to visit a certain website and have a bad experience excluding the fact you have a bad internet connection.

The Fight is on. Internet in this modern world is very powerful. It can create and destroy regimes, it can give us power to fight against oppression but it is only possible with Net Neutrality.

Have a good Day :D
